- The visual concept came naturally once we saw renderings of the club: let large, stunning pictures do the talking.
Grid for speed
- A dotted grid overlay adds depth and a dark, nightlife feel.
- The grid hides compression artifacts, allowing us to compress the pictures better and reduce loading times.
- Another speed boost: pictures start loading once the page is ready.
Dots Dots Dots!
- Inspired by SOUND's LED wall, the logo animates randomly.
- It is the only Flash element on the website.
- Flash plugin is not required to visit the website.
Music player
- Each DJ bio includes a button to play a music sample.
- SOUND logo transforms into a music player.
- It lights in rhythm to the music, just like its' 19m long real-life counterpart behind the bar.
Calendar
- Events can be browsed fast thanks to the lack of page refreshes.
- All upcoming events are published in an RSS feed which can be embedded on other websites.
flickr integration
- Party pictures are uploaded to flickr and appear automatically on the website.
- It reduces development costs, increases visibility, speed (pictures are served by Yahoo's servers) and sharing possibilities.
- The photostream also appears on SOUND's facebook profile.
CMS
- An intuitive back-end gives full control over content to the client.
- It's so easy to use, the planned training session was cancelled!
Project tracking
- From first sketches to delivery, the whole project was tracked online.
- The client could check progress, provide feedback, share files and access todo lists to make sure the website would be ready on time.
Clean and Optimised
- To improve accessibility, we separate content from presentation and use semantic markup.
- To speed up the website, we avoid page refreshes, rely on Google's Content Distribution Network, and write clean code that is compresed, merged and cached.
Background
Sound Phuket is the brainchild of the clubbing maestros behind Bed Supperclub in Bangkok.
SOUND's interior is a mix of science fiction and ultra-sleek production design based on the concept of the human ear.
